30 Days Until Disney World: Planning Update

It is 30 days Until Disney World for us, yet again, and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate Halloween at Disney!! I’m writing from my living room where I am watching The Nightmare Before Christmas and mapping out my plan of attack for our Grim-grinning Hallow-Disney experience!!

This trip does, in fact, mark our 4th trip in 18 months…and this is by far the most stoked I’ve been to plan a Disney World trip! I’m a huge Halloween fan so combining my favorite holiday with my favorite place to vacation is just beyond exciting for me.

This trip is the longest trip we’ve taken thus far, is 6 nights and 7 days, so we have decided not to Park Hop on this trip.

Unlike our recent Birthday Trips and our Christmas trip where we park hopped each day, we’ve decided to take our time and enjoy one Disney park per day.

30 Days Until Disney World: What we currently have planned…

For our Halloween, at Disney Trip, we’ve decided to stay at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort for 6 nights and 7 days, Sunday to Saturday.

We’ve purchased 2 tickets to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party(MNSSHP) and Tickets to each of the 4 Disney Parks, 1 Park per day.

We also opted to purchase the Memory Maker Package before our trip to save $40 as opposed to buying it after.

At this point, we’re up in the air on purchasing a Disney Dining Plan option. I truly love it but due to my house renovations, I may have to go for cheap eats on this trip…which will still be amazing thanks to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival!!!

The FastPass Selections for our Halloween at Disney Trip have been selected 60 days in advance thanks to the benefit of staying on Disney property.

Our FastPass Selections are as Follows:

Sunday: Magic Kingdom/ Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party(MNSSHP)

  • Haunted Mansion- Arrive between 3:50-4:50 pm
  • Pirates of the Caribbean- Arrive between 5:00-6:00 pm

The MNSSHP starts at 7 pm but they allow MNSSHP guests to enter the park as early as 4 pm.

You aren’t allowed to book FastPasses during the MNSSHP because you really wouldn’t need them, however, you can book them from 4-7 pm before the party…and that’s just what I did!

Tuesday: Epcot/ Food and Wine Festival

Due to this day having Extra Magic Hours from 9-11 pm, and the fact that we are going to spend most of the day around World Showcase enjoying the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, we have decided to wing it with our FastPasses.

If we get there and there is a long wait on something we will resort to using a FastPass.

Wednesday: Magic Kingdom

We are going to wing it at this park as well due to the Extra Magic Hours from 9-11 pm. We typically ride Peter Pan’s Flight first thing in the morning due to the long waits throughout the day.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain are good ones to ride early or get a FastPass for!

Thursday: Animal Kingdom

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris- Arrive between 11:15-12:15 pm
  • Na’vi River Journey- Arrive between 6:15-7:15 pm
  • Rivers of Light- 8:20-8:45 pm (show starts at 9 pm)

Due to the opening of Pandora in Animal Kingdom, my plan of attack is to head straight to Pandora at 9 am rope drop. I was not able to get a FastPass for Avatar Flight of Passage so we will head there first thing.

We did get a FastPass for the Na’vi River Journey and I’m thrilled about it!!

On our May 2017 trip, we sadly missed Rivers of Light… so I made sure to get a FastPass for it this time. If you want to see Rivers of Light I suggest you do the same for your trip as well.

Friday: Hollywood Studios

  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid- Arrive at 10:30-10:45 am (show starts at 10:50 am)
  • Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular- 12:50-1:05 pm (show starts at 1:15 pm)
  • Fantasmic!- 6:50-7:05 pm (show starts at 7:30 pm)

There aren’t a lot of good rides to choose from right now with the Hollywood Studios expansion going on. We opted to use our FastPass selections on the shows and entertainment this time around.

But in my opinion Fantasmic and the Star Wars Launch Bay are enough reasons to visit this park!!

*** (3) FastPass Selections are allowed per day that you are at the Disney park. Once you use up the FastPass selection(s) you have made ahead of time…you can then use the Disney Park Kiosks to select more FastPasses or use the My Disney Experience App.

Other Info:

We will be checking out Disney’s Polynesian Beach Resort on Monday(our Free Day). We have been talking about having drinks at Trader Sams Grotto for a while so this time we’re making it happen!!

I’m also excited for a few Character Meet & Greets on this trip such as Jack & Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Jack Sparrow…they are only out at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party so I am beside myself with excitement!!

If you’re wondering if we will be dressing up or DisneyBounding on this trip the answer is…..YES!!

My mom and I have decided to DisneyBound as Maleficent and Ursula at the MNSSHP, we’re also going to DisneyBound as Moana and Te Fiti, and I’ve purchased an extremely cute Jack Skellington Dress I plan to wear out for drinks at Trader Sams!

We will be road-trippin’ to Disney on this trip as well…it’s just easier for us to bring snacks and souvenirs back home with us.
