5 Things You Must Do in New York City
It is true what they say, there is nowhere quite likeย New York City. The air is different, energetic and the firstย time you breathe in the addictive city air, and walk the streets of this amazing concrete jungle, is something you will truly never forget.ย It’s had me hooked ever since!
With so much to do in this ever-changing metropolis, it is very easy to get overwhelmed by options so I’ve narrowed it down to 5 top must-dos for you guys to build on!
5 Things You Must Do in New York City
Visit a Museum
New York City boasts some of the best museums in the world.
From art to architecture, photography to history, Star Wars to arcade games, fashion to television the variety of museums in New York City are endless. (Psst…there’s even a Sex Museum?! Gasp!!!)
A lot of them are also free on certain days of the week and some are even free all the time!
For example:
~ ย The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology(FIT) is always free!!
~ Museum of Modern Art(MoMA) is free on Fridays from 4 to 8 pm.
~ Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum(aka the Guggenheim)ย is pay what you wish on Saturdays from 5:45 to 7:45 pm.
~ The 9/11 Memorial is always free & the 9/11 Museum,ย usually $24, is free on Tuesdays from 5 pm to close.
I like to reference Time Out NYC for Museum schedules and cost.ย
Brunch
Brunch is an NYC tradition!ย
A mimosa and eggs?…yes, please!!
…and really what is better than alcohol being served before noon without judgment?!?!
Not to mention New York breakfast is delicious.ย Definitely different from the southern style breakfast I’m used to back home!!
…And if morning Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s aren’t your things, a New York City coffee and bagelย are still a must!!
or in my case coffee and a cookie!!
Walk the City
New York City has numerous transportation options, and when in a pinch I’ll take the subway or grab a taxi/Uber…
but I really enjoy walking the city on foot.
It really is the best way to take in the true essenceย of the city!
Don’t just stick with the touristy spots like Times Square either…
stroll into a neighborhood like Chelsea or the East Village and explore!ย
I’ve found some really amazing stores, and delicious cheap eats this way.
Be sure to check out each borough that makes up New York City: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx are each uniquely what makes New York City truly the best city in the world!
Visit Central Park
Central Park is a gorgeous oasis in the midst of a fast-paced city.
With 843 acres there are endless things to see and do any time of year in Central Park.
From concerts in the summer toย picnics on the Great Lawn in the fall, toย snow falling over Bow Bridge in the winter, to romantic horse&carriage rides, all are majestic sights to see.
View the New York City Skyline
The NYC Skyline sets the bar high for other skylines all over the world.
Its beauty brings tourists to this city each and every day(me being one of them!)
and it is definitely a sight to see.
Top ways to view the New York City skyline:
Empire State Building: The Highest Open-Air Observatory in NYC
Rockefeller Centerย –ย Top of the Rock NYC
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge (free)
Staten Island Ferry (free and also has awesome views of Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge so triple bonus!!!)

LOVE this post! My sister and I visited NYC and tried to do it all in one weekend. I think we walked around 25-30 miles over the weekend once it was all said and done, but it was so worth it! I like that you give the highlights though for someone who isn’t looking to pretty much walk a marathon while they’re there! ๐
